THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF COCHRANE
BY-LAW NO. 2442-89
BEING A BY-LAW TO REGULATE THE USE
OF WATER IN THE TOWN OF COCHRANE
 

WHEREAS authority is granted under the Public Utilities Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 423, Section 12, to regulate the time, manner, extent and nature of the supply of water in order to secure to the inhabitants of the Municipality a continued and abundant supply of pure and wholesome water;

 AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient by the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane to enact a by-law regulating and controlling the consumption and use of water;

 NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane enacts as follows:

 EVEN NUMBERED MUNICIPAL ADDRESS

  1. No person who is an owner, tenant, occupant, servant, agent or employee of any house, dwelling unit, building or other structure or place, designated by an even numbered municipal address by the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane, may water or sprinkle or use or distribute water in any manner on lawns, gardens, grass, plots, boulevards, or grounds of any description on any day other than even numbered calendar days.

ODD NUMBERED MUNICIPAL ADDRESS

  1. No person who is an owner, tenant, occupant, servant, agent or employee of any house, dwelling unit, building or other structure or place, designated by an odd numbered municipal address by the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane, may water or sprinkle or use or distribute water in any manner on lawns, gardens, grass, plots, boulevards, or grounds of any description on any day other than odd numbered calendar days.

PROHIBITED WATERING OF LAWNS

  1. No person, who is an owner, tenant, occupant, agent or employee of any house, dwelling unit, building or other place or structure, to which water is supplied by the Corporation of the Town of Cochrane, shall use water or sprinkle or use or distribute water in any manner on lawns, gardens, grass, plots, boulevards or grounds of any description between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. on any day.

PENALTY

  1. Every person who contravenes any provision of this By-law may, upon conviction, forfeit and pay a penalty of not less that Fifty ($50.00) Dollars and not more than Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, exclusive of costs, recoverable under the Provincial Offenses Act, R.S.O., 1980, Chaper 400 as amended thereto, as provided for by Section 321 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302 as amended.

GENERAL

  1. This By-law shall come into full force and effect upon the date of its passing.
